How the grievance process works

Every grievance follows a structured 8-stage workflow ensuring accountability, transparency and timely resolution.

Submit

File your grievance via any channel — online, walk-in or hotline. Anonymous submissions accepted.

Screening & Classification

The KM Unit classifies your case (Category A–F by urgency) and routes it to the correct directorate within 48 hours.

Investigation

An inspector conducts a field investigation — site visits, sampling, drone surveillance and interviews. High-risk: 7–14 days.

Decision & Closure

The directorate issues an enforcement decision. You are notified and may accept the outcome or appeal through 5 tiers.

The EEA Grievance Redress Mechanism covers concerns across the five thematic priority areas of the Eswatini Environment Fund's 2024/2025 cycle.

Sustainable Land Management

Land degradation, soil and water conservation, run-off water management, and integrated landscape management across cropland, grassland and forest areas.

Climate Change

Climate-smart agriculture, climate-resilient livelihoods, capacity building for local adaptation action plans and disaster risk preparedness.

Sustainable Water Management

Protection of rivers, earth dams, springs and wells; water harvesting; and sustainable management of water sources for agriculture, livestock and domestic use.

Chemical & Waste Management

Improper use of pesticides and herbicides, uncontrolled dumping, municipal solid waste, incineration, and harmful chemical release into the environment.

Ecosystem, Habitat & Biodiversity

Habitat loss, overuse of natural resources, threats to protected areas, wetland degradation, and activities harming biodiversity and ecosystem services.
